Hands and the Library

Merrilk and Masterthief1324
I needed to practice hands for my figure drawing class so I looked for tutorials on the internet.  Masterthief starts with what looks like bones, and then fleshes it out. I really liked the results.

 These were my practice pieces.

Library sketches
Mike and I went to the library, and I sat sketching people as they looked for books.

Sam chattered while I tried a face-to-face portrait. Doesn't look quite like her, but getting better!

Still drawing

Mike made me a drawing bench --- and I did these in front of the mirror.

Kind of how I look and how I look through rose colored glasses.

Funny when you get old, you still feel like the same YOU inside.

Sam

My 86 year old neighbor ... Mike said it bears a resemblance ... which is the HIGHEST compliment ever from him!

Now I need to learn to draw hair!

Works in progress

Smile for the camera

* It's a bike helmet *

Steve is growing a beard!

Our class has gone on to drawing animals and nature this week, but I can't let go of the portraits --- so here are a few more works in progress. The one of Steve is really a work in progress, as he sent me a photo on his cell phone that he is attempting to grow a beard.
Really proud of this . And yes, my nose is that crooked!

A week of practice

I really think I have improved this week ... and am hoping to practice even more.

Can't get Mike to let me draw him but maybe tonight while he is watching tv ...

Sand sculpture

This lady wouldn't look so much like an alien if I had been able to find 2 black shells for her eyes.

Here is a link to the workshop that is inspiring all my new attempts:

Eggheads and pinkheads

This exercise really helped me with shading a head --- first I did an egg and shaded it, then added features. I think my third attempt shows promise and after about 100 more, I will be much improved!

The next project was supposed to use a stabilo pencil. I don't have one ... nor do I even know what they are!

So I used a watercolor pencil and a mister, and here you can see how that went for me!

Online class

I signed up for an art class at the Viera Art Gallery and received a notice that they had cancelled it due to a few people dropping out. After I got over being upset that it was cancelled, I found an online class and signed up.

Here is today's work ... a self portrait, a practice sheet with eyes, noses and mouths, and then another try at a self portrait.

I had forgotten

or maybe I never knew, but Vickie Holden reminded me about this map site ... with a random view every day. What fun!

Amanda in the car!

We went to Orlando ... so again I had a captive model.
