So sad to be nearing the end of the class.  We did mockingbird nests this week.

Somehow the cat toy just needed to be in the picture.

I was really concentrating on the detail and somehow lost all sense of proportion.

Back at it

It's been awhile. 

 It's been a grand baby, several trips to lots of places, two surgeries and that's a lot of mileage for this old lady!  

This tree was inspired by an online class by Val Webb.  I did it with my paint brush padded and wrapped as I am still recovering from hand surgery, but glad to be back at making art.  I missed it!

Dogs and Cats and Giraffes?

My sketching lately has included a lot of dogs and cats thanks to the online video class I am taking by Val Webb.

No. I mean Amazon Shopping Giraffe!  Our Sketchbook Skool ( sic ) assignment was to get a realistic toy and then draw it from several angles.   This giraffe keeps on multiplying, right across the page!

Quick Sketch for Paper, Paint, Pencils and Pens

This is a quick sketch of The Courtyard Stables at Arlington Court in North Devon in the UK.  

Seems I will never see it but at least I got to draw it!

Art Journaling #3

I collected some fonts from a library book so I can refer to them as I journal.  


Then this morning I woke up to a broken tomato plant on the front porch.  I tried to capture it as my daily entry.

Art Journaling # 2

My online class discussed the Bower bird who collects gewgaws to attract his mate.  Not sure my collection of geegaws has any good impact on my mate, but I could identify with the bird!

We were supposed to do a background and colors and then details, I did the yarn jar that has my extra-soft baby yarn.  I bought a big jar of cheese balls and Mike ate his way through it so I could have the jar.

I have a sweater in progress … can't wait to finish it for our new grand baby-to-be.
